Radio – The International Festival of Radio Orchestras, music elegance at its utmost!

RadiRo is the only festival dedicated to radio orchestras in Europe and across the world, an event produced and organized by Radio Romania. The 4th edition of the Festival will take place from November 18th to November 25th, 2018, and will comprise two sections: Symphony concerts – hosted at the Romanian Radio Hall, and, a premiere at the current edition, jazz concerts – scheduled at the MNAR Auditorium Hall (The National Museum of Art of Romania).

Organized every two years (so as to alternate with the George Enescu International Festival) since 2012, RadiRo has brought in front of the Romanian audience leading radio orchestras from Europe and Asia.

On Wednesday, September 26th, subscriptions for the 4th RadiRo Festival will go on sale. A week later, starting from Wednesday, October 3rd, individual tickets will be put on sale as well. Subscriptions are available only for the symphony concerts at the Romanian Radio Hall. For the jazz concerts scheduled at the Auditorium Hall, MNAR, there will be only individual tickets available. Tickets and subscriptions can be purchased online on www.bilete.ro, as well as at the Romanian Post offices, in the Inmedio stores bearing the bilete.ro logo, as well as at the Romanian Radio Box Office.

The 4th RadiRo Festival will bring to Bucharest European prestigious orchestras, which belong to some of the leading European broadcasting companies: BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (UK), MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, alongside the host of the event, the Romanian Radio National Orchestra.

The jazz series will be performed by radio big bands from Denmark, Croatia and Romania. The top guest musician of the jazz concerts series will be Aura Urziceanu, who will return to Romania especially for this event, to perform with the Romanian Radio Big Band.

Internationally acclaimed conductors and soloists will perform at RadiRo 2018: conductors Vladimir Ashkenazy and Nathalie Stutzmann, pianists Mihai Ritivoiu – a winner of the George Enescu International Competition, David Fray and Javier Perianes, cellist Andrei Ioniță – a star of the new generation, a winner of the Grand Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition (Moscow).

This 4th edition of the RadiRo Festival is intended to highlight two major events of the year – the celebration of the 90th anniversary of Radio Romania (November 1st), and Romania’s Centenary (100 years since the Great Union).

All concerts performed during the Festival will be broadcast live by Radio Romania, recorded and broadcast later by the Romanian Television. Concerts will be taken over and broadcast by the radio members of the European Broadcasting Union.
